Knock Off

This is what I call love at first sight :

Alexander Mcqueen Spring/Summer 2011 collection.

And if that wasn't good enough, it comes with a matching heels that if fairies were not merely mythical creatures, they would definitely have fights among themselves over who get to wear and keep this look.

Talking about butterflies. The orange color of these Mcqueen's dress reminds me of the ever-so-fascinating Monarch butterflies, a species that migrates in winter to escape the chills.

The Monarch butterflies are poisonous, resulting from the plant they feed on while they are in the caterpillar stage so birds would normally stay away from them the second time they encounter these pretty butterflies. Of course, the lesson must be learnt the hard way; they have to eat them the first time around in order to experience the discomfort the poison will have on their stomach which sometimes will lead to the poor birds vomiting.

Another species of butterflies, the Visceroy butterflies, upon learning about the cool trick that the Monarch butterflies have up its sleeves wings, thought that it would be awesome to mimic those seemingly simple self-defense requiring not much of an effort other than just by looking the right part. Shallow as it might seem, that is one fact that we just can't escape living in our time; unless you are willing to work 10 times harder.

Being the street-smart species that they are, the Visceroyers decided to adopt this brilliant trick and over time, their coloration evolved and tada!, now the Visceroyers look just like their friends, the Monarchers. No statements have ever been solicited from a member of Monarch on how they really feel about the whole copycat thing-y, seeing as to now their looks are not exclusive anymore.

Here's how they both look now, side by side :

Remarkable, ain't it? Such wonder of nature.

We humans are no different from the animal kingdom, really. Each of us has our own defense mechanism when it comes to dealing with predators of the real world; some just act downright crazy when put in a stressful situation, some prefer to just hide beneath the blanket and refuse to come out, some smoke, some do drugs, some punch the predators in the nuts, while some erm, do sudoku. Or blog just to escape the anxiety of the approaching exams.

Shopping Diet

Got this awesome idea from a fashion blogger (which I can't remember but she's awesome and once I remember I'll link her here) while fashion-blog-hopping few days ago. You can't go anywhere now without seeing giant posters with 4-devilish-letters on it staring and hypnotizing at you.

I'm talking about SALEs.

The blogger (whom I still can't remember) came up with a new kind of diet, a fun one, in which she could spend only 100 Euros in a month which will end in Feb 7th. By the time I stumbled upon her blog, she was already down to 60 Euros.

What a concept. Brilliant! So I am putting myself on a diet too. Making a list of what I want to buy and stick within a definite budget. There's a catch : I can only buy what's on the list. Because that's what I want and need.

Consumerism, where would all the fun be without you.

So here's the list.

Item number 1 : A perfect fit harem pants that won't make me look like I am wearing a diapers. Preferably from jersey so that the cut would fall gracefully instead of bulking an existing pile of bulk. This grey is my personal favorite. It is purr-fect; the cut, the material, the length.

Until I saw this printed harem pants which is uber-cool-super-awesome. But maybe it's because the person rocking it is The Gwen.

Cool gila jadi mak stylo. Then again, the whole idea of getting pregnant, having your belly stretched wide out, carrying a life inside you for 9 months (I can't go a week without bumping into something and bruise myself -.-) and then pushing a breathing creature out into the world through a hole down there scares the crap out of me. It gives me shiver just thinking about it. They say the maternal feeling will come naturally once you are ready; well, I hope I will be ready one day. But not before 30. Okla, maybe 29. Crap, that's like a mere 5 years away from now.

Anyhoo, let's go back to the fun part.

I can't resist putting another picture. They are one of the few last still-standing-Hollywood couples. And the hottest. With the coolest kids! Is that a sign of balding? Yeah who cares, he's still hot.

Item number 2 : Vertical-striped nautical blazers.

Budget : 50 Euros for both.

By the by, my mom lost 11 kilos and she can fit into some of the clothes I left back home. The thought of us sharing the same wardrobe scares me.

Eh. Why does everything seem to scare me lately?

Because I Will Buy A Bigger Shoe Rack. Eventually.

This:

For 10,50 Euros. At nelly.com. How can you not LOVE online shopping. It's almost like a gift from God after a half-day of hard-core studying. Actually I haven't even started yet. But I am. As soon as I'm finished writing this.

I suggest that we should start listening to ourselves talking when we are talking. Like, really listen. Pay attention to the words that we have subconsciously chosen.

Are they positive words or are they prone to bring with them negative aura? Words can be as dangerous and fatal as poison, if not used properly, for correct purposes.

"I can't do this I can't do that." "I hate this and that." "Oh..I'm such a pathetic loser." "I'm such a lazy-ass today." "I hate days like these." "I prefer days like so and so."

A man is only as good as his words.

Don't sabotage yourself by choosing poor words for yourself and your life.

Starting from today, I'll try to only utter words that will do me good, words that will attract positive energy (I know I risk sounding like a gypsy-hippie-zen addict). Even though I might hate rainy gloomy days, I'm not going to make it any worse by stating the obvious.

What if today is all there is? Yeah, it would be pretty sad if it really is but what would you do to make living today worth every second of it?

Time is the most precious capital investment.

Tomorrow is the most dangerous word.

What if I already have other plans? Should I get their approval to follow my plans which involve my life?

I hope things will figure themselves out. Sooner or later.

A$$holes

Remember this jersey skirt I blogged about? I bought it at 17,95 Euros and thought that it was such a good deal?

As of last week, it went on sale at a freaking 7,95 Euros. 10 Euros cut. More than 50% discount. And I bought 2 of those skirts!!! My 20 Euros! Wtf H&M???? Are you trying to be an asshole of the grandest kind because you just succeeded with flying colours.

Who needs H&M anyway when a giant Primark is opening right in the heart of Gelsennowherekirchen tomorrow. So stop sending love letters in my mailbox trying to woo me with your cute dresses, H&M, because we are through. For now.

Winter

I am not going to try to be positive about the approaching winter what with the snow already hitting some parts of Germany already.

I hate winter. With a passion.

It's so cold; makes me prone to getting constant brain freeze whenever I stay outdoor for more than 15 minutes, not to mention the shivering. Yeah sure it's a pretty sight waking up to a world covered up with a layer of fresh snow, kinda reminded me somehow of the pureness of the world, of how your whole life is spread out like a blank canvas before you for you to explore, yada yada yada. But like every beauty, it doesn't stay long. The next day, everywhere you walk, you'll notice that every corner of whiteness is melted and tainted by yellow spots, sometimes ughhh brown! Thanks to the overpopulation of dogs in Gelsenkirchen messing up my profound epiphany about the whole blank canvas thingy. How do you interpret and integrate that into the picture? To always be aware because in life there'll be dogs with bowel incontinence happily shitting all over your blank canvas?

Don't judge me. I love dogs. I think some of them are so cute sometimes I find myself almost reaching out and give them a back rub. But there should be laws citing that owners should pick up after their dogs' by-products, like in the States. It's just disgusting.

Where was I at? Oh on why I hate winter. First, it's cold. I don't care if students in Russia are saying, "-6 degree? Meh, that's like summer for us. Come try -40 here." Anything below 10 is no fun for me. Secondly, it's yucky (dog poo). Third, it's wet meaning it's very slippery; how's that for an added adventure for an already clumsy clown as it is like me. Fourth, the sun goes down at 4.30 p.m. like whattttt? But the last one is actually not really that bad. It gives me motivation to wake up early in the morning and not go back to bed after that because I do not want to miss the unfolding of the day and to soak up on every ray of sunlight. Plus I rarely ever have any evening or afternoon nap anymore. Daylight is too precious to miss around this time of the year.

Truth is, I'm over getting hyped on snow. Done. Seriously.

But as much as a winter-hater I am, there are just too much to look forward to this winter. Especially this winter.

First and foremost, like every winter, there'll be huge clearance sales on summer items everywhere you turn which is just too good to pass up. Damn you capitalist pigs, banking in on my weakness for clothes I don't actually really truly need. I just simply want them because they are cute. What choice do I have? Living off the grid? Maybe when I'm a millionaire and I have a vast property in a beautiful and serene countryside somewhere, with an olympic-sized pool fashioned like a natural waterfall, a farm large enough where I could rear cows and chickens and fishes and ponies and zebras and grow my own fruits and veggies, I might be able to finally be self-sufficient. But not now. The temptation of the materialstic capitalist world is just unbearable that I choose to simply succumb.

Fave latest find at Asosawesome.de.

After rearranging my clothes based on the colors, I realize that there's no trace of purple in my wardrobe. And green (one doesn't count). And peach. Hello capitalism, goodbye good consumerism.

What else? A good friend of mine is finally visiting! Planning to go to Brussels to taste for ourselves if all the hype over their infamous waffles is well-justified.

I'm drooling. Ooooh can't wait.

Winter won't be too dull this time around when I'll be planning and booking tickets for my first real Europe tour comes March. Arrrrrrrrrrh. I actually just screamed out. Loudly. Out of excitement. Hihi.

Plus there's a company that I enjoy being around with very close nearby so this winter won't be dull at all. It'll be cold as hell, for sure, but not dull.

Jersey Skirt

Recently bought this jersey skirt from H&M. It's only 17,95 Euros! and I'm one very satisfied buyer.

I bought two of them, one in black and one in green.

The material flows so gently from the waist downwards. Makes me feel so feminine and I'm loving every second in it that I wore both of them in two consecutive days!

Didn't manage to capture decent pictures of me wearing them because 1) the natural lighting was not in our favor, we went out late in the evening and it was already dark by 4 p.m. and 2) I just can ever be (semi)natural in front of the camera if Fudye or my lil' brother is behind the lens. With other people, I'll end up looking just very awkward; I'll either look like I'm trying too hard to look nonchalant or I'll strike an OTT pose. Spastik gila.

Blame that on my annoying deep-seated insecurity.

Lately I am in a very adventurous mode when it comes to dressing up, so I think I should consider of documenting it more.
